For the Flower Lovers

Now that Football Season is behind us (well, with one more notable exception next weekend) Spencer has much more free time during the weekend. This morning, for example, I woke up to a rarely heard Sunday statement "let's do something fun today." So, off we went to visit the city's Botanical Gardens to check out some cool South American plants and their massive orchid greenhouse. For anyone who is a lover of flowers, this will be a 'must do' upon visiting.

But first, on our way to the garden, we stopped in at the Vivarium, a herpetological research and education center. Basically a snake and reptile house. It was cool, though small, but we did get to hold a Boa Constrictor, which made it well worth the $3 entrance fee!

From there we headed off to the Botanical Gardens of Quito. It was a cool exhibit located right in the middle of Parque Carolina, which is a huge beautiful park right in the middle of the city. I took this photo from the Gardens looking out towards the mountain (this is in the center of the city!):

Anyway, I took the following shots for my flower loving friends. This is only a sample of the things we saw today. Hope this entices you to come visit sometime:

These last 2 are carnivorous! Very cool.
